How It Works
Our reading program is designed to cultivate a love for literature and enhance literacy skills. Through guided reading sessions, library time, and book clubs, we encourage our pupils to explore various genres and develop strong reading habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Our Music, Dance, and Drama program provides pupils with an opportunity to express themselves creatively and develop their artistic talents. Pupils participate in performances and productions, learning the fundamentals of music, choreography, and theatrical expression. This program not only nurtures artistic skills but also boosts confidence and teamwork.
The School Choir is a vibrant part of our music program, bringing together pupils who share a passion for singing. The choir performs at school events and community functions, showcasing the vocal talents of our pupils and promoting a sense of unity and pride within the school.
Our school band offers pupils the chance to learn and play various musical instruments. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, pupils gain musical proficiency and experience the joy of performing as part of an ensemble. The band plays an integral role in school ceremonies and celebrations, adding a lively and dynamic element to our events.
In the Computer Club, pupils are introduced to the world of technology and digital literacy. They learn essential computer skills, explore coding and programming, and engage in projects that enhance their understanding of modern technology. This club equips pupils with critical skills that are increasingly important in today’s digital age.
The Language Club celebrates linguistic diversity and fosters an appreciation for different cultures. Pupils have the opportunity to learn new languages, practice their speaking and listening skills, and participate in cultural exchange activities. This club broadens their horizons and prepares them for a globalized world.
In a world where potential is too often dimmed by circumstance, the right to dignity, health, and uninterrupted education remains a critical frontier for the girl child. Persistent challenges from cultural stigma to economic barriers disproportionately affect young girls, leading to preventable dropouts and a silent forfeiture of futures. Newton Junior Schools, with a profound commitment to holistic and equitable education, proudly presents DEAR GIRLS (Development, Education, and Reproductive Health for Girls). This transformative initiative confronts these challenges head-on, recognizing that empowerment begins with knowledge, agency, and unwavering support. DEAR GIRLS is a compassionate ecosystem of change. It equips adolescent girls with practical, life-changing skills to confidently manage their menstrual health through the sustainable production of reusable sanitary pads. Concurrently, it builds a fortified support network by actively engaging mothers, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to guide their daughters through adolescence, sexual education, and reproductive health. Elevating this endeavor to an international standard of excellence, we were honored to host Aukje Smet, an expert dispatched by PUM Netherlands. Her specialized training ignited a spark of mastery and entrepreneurship, transferring invaluable expertise directly to our girls and mothers. Today, this knowledge thrives. Armed with skill and solidarity, our DEAR GIRLS community convenes every Thursday not merely to produce, but to collaborate, uplift, and forge a new narrative. They are stitching together more than fabric; they are weaving a tapestry of resilience, breaking cycles of stigma, and securing a future where every girl can learn, lead, and thrive without limitation. This is more than a program. It is a promise. A promise of dignity, continuity, and boundless possibility.
